Place Value - 5 digit number


Question : Write the number 27938 using comma.

Solution:

1. PlaceValue Table: 

 First we have to write the number in place value table and also show periods.

In the above problem, the number of digits are:5
Up to 5 digit number the two : Indian and International place value system are one and the same.
The greatest place value is Ten-Thousand (TTh).
While writing the digits in the Place value chart,we have to follow Right to Left.

2. Number:  The number is written as: 27,938.

3.Word Form (or) Number Name: Twenty-seven thousand nine hundred and thirty-eight.


NOTE: In writing number names,the Periods always written in singular form.


Question : Expanded form of the number: 27,938

   Solution:  Step 1: we have to write the place value chart for the number 27,938 

     


  Step 2 : Express the place value of each digit in the number as a Sum.
                 27,938= 20,000+7,000+900+30+8
                       

Q: Write the following in expanded form.

1  .      39,246 = 30,000 + 9,000 + 200 + 40 + 6
2  .     24,080 = 20,000 + 4,000 + 0     + 80 + 0  (or)  20,000 + 4,000 + 80
3  .     60,078 = 60,000 +   0      +  0    + 70 + 8  (or)   60,000 + 70 + 8

Note: we can leave out the digit zero ‘ 0 ‘ while writing the expanded form.
